Medusa Alloys
Hi,
I'm new on here and am hoping that someone will be able to offer some advice. I took my V50 sport today to get three new tyres put on it. I was then informed by the tyre place that one of the alloys has a crack in it. They have sealed the crack and put the tyre on and advised that I get it sorted asap. I don't want to downgrade to the smaller wheels, and have been quoted £526for a new wheel from Volvo! Ouch..... and the cheapest on ebay is £180 My question is does anyone out there have medusa alloy that they are willing to sell, with or without tyre?? Or have any suggestions re the crack and any repairs that could be done. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

Hello mate, hope i can help.
Firstly, don't drive with a cracked alloy! potentially very dangerous. Secondly. get the wheel to a good workshop with alloy welding facility. Repairing alloy wheels with cracks in them is not a problem, as long as you deal with experts. Iv'e been repairing alloys for twenty years. If you need to refurb afterwards, it will still be cheaper than buying new. |

As already stated if the wheel is cracked dont use it.
I had a buckled 18" Medusa sorted by 'Myalloys' in basingstoke, not to far from you. Cost was about £70 - lot cheaper than a new wheel. However not sure if they can repair a crack - best ring them, found them to be very helpful folks. For the record I dont work for 'myalloys' www.myalloys.co.uk Last edited by rasputin; Jul 25th, 2012 at 12:59. Reason: dreadful spelling |
