By the way just to be clear. When you look at the Sensus screen on top left, the first signal bars you get are the ones of your phone, the second one is the one from the sim card installed in the modem and it has a little sim icon next to it. In order for the modem to work you need this to be a strong signal.

No VOC should not be hit and miss as it will pick up any signal so if your sim is playing up or in poor reception area VOC will revert to its own built in system.

I use one of these instead of the car modem, its brilliant, with a 3 data sim I get great coverage, (I have not had any problems with the car modem) but I use the data sim when in my caravan and this works in the car or van or in your pocket, it saves me having to mess about removing sim card from car, I keep it in the centre console, plugged in to 12 volt socket. But you can stick it anywhere out of the way.

There is a patch!!
There is a patch now for this problem.
Everybody who this problem started after the last software update can have a patch installed just for this problem. They reinstall the old software only for the modem. It works! Had it done 2 days ago and everything is fine again. |

Had the roll back "update" and it seems to be working now (touch wood).
Will update thread if it starts to fail again had it back since yesterday midday and no disconnections since then - used to have 2/3/4 a day after they updated it.

Upon asking my Dealer for the roll back fix, he told that they have not received any official information on that and he will not perform it. Is this something that your dealer did for you only, trying in good will to rectify the problem? (Please bear in mind I live in Greece and not in the UK)

If you are talking about the VOC app as opposed to the in car volvo on call, your in car modem is only live if ignition is on so will be using the volvo in built sim not your modem data sim. I am talking about the in car VOC communications, call and sos buttons. These use their own in built sim or your data sim if fitted and revert back to own sim if no data or signal.
