Power System Service Urgent Warning
My daughter has a 2005 Volvo S40 T5 and while driving to school one evening, she said the warning lights on the dash lit up and the car lost power to the engine and steering. I got a flatbed trailer about two hours later and went back and got it started enough to pull it up on the trailer. When we got it home I put a volt meter on the battery and it showed around 6 volts. I had the battery checked and it was okay. I pulled the alternator and had it checked and it was bad. I ordered one from Maniac Motors for $165 and it was identical to the original. Got the new alternator back on and the car has been running fine for about 6 months. Only thing is that the "power service urgent" message never went away. I connected it to a code tool and made sure all of the codes were cleared but it is still there!!! What do I do to get the message cleared ?

No I have not updated any software. There is no Volvo Dealership in our town and I have not had time to drive 100 miles to the nearest one. Any other suggestions? All are appreciated !!!
