Default 240GLT for sale

Due to too many things Volvo going on I have decided to put my 89 Black GLT up for sale here first. It needs a little work for its MOT but it is an easy job and no more than a weekends work. There are receipts for over £800 spent on the suspension at Brookhouse.

I think this is an object lesson re eBay. Sadly I've seen it happen before.

The buyers who believes the promise that the auction would run to the end and followed the bid process and were disappointed, might by the way have offered an even higher unbelievable price if they'd had the opportunity. And eBay bidding can run up unexpectedly to a very high price. The successful buyer saw a reason to pay high, others might have paid higher. Food for thought.

Yes. Oh well.....

Bingo. I never go in straight away with my highest price. I always put a bid on to register interest and keep it at the fore front of my mind then nearer the auction end I will register my proper bid and go for it. My bid was no where near what I was prepared to actually pay. You never go all in from the get go.

Sadly that's the way some people play it. I always consider an item is on an ebay auction for a reason, to sell to the highest bidder and when the listing says it won't be ended then its a fair assumption it won't end but all too often this happens.

Like you say, some of the bidders may have been prepared to pay an even higher unbelievable price than the person who did buy it.

I know what I was prepared to pay and it was way more than it was at when it was removed.

I am always perplexed by the way cash is used as some kind of holy grail above other forms of currency when selling cars though. What else would one pay in? Fish, lentils, comical anecdotes,?

Many years ago way before Ebay I viewed and paid a deposit on a very nice Ford 1600e.

An hour or so later the seller knocked on my door and said someone else had viewed it and paid a bit more than we had agreed in cash and he wanted to give me my deposit back... he also said he felt bad and I could give him a slap if it helped.

I did and it helped a lot actually....

Those were the days..

Shame you got messed about, unfortunately that is the nature of online auctions.

My 240 is entered in a "proper" classic car auction with real live people so it will run to the end and at least whoever bids or buys know where they stand.
