Indeed. I never said I practiced what has been uploaded to YouTube.

If you pay the road and the system the right attention the hard lesson you talk about will never happen.

My 'other' Volvo is a 1973 P1800ES which if you've ever driven one has the heaviest steering ever known to man! I'm told that the electric power assistance steering motor from a Vauxhall Corsa will fit it neatly under the dash so that may well become a winter project!

I doubt it will ever match the light, smooth steering on my V90 though!

Below 30mph isn’t the system known as que assist which does everything that pilot assist does but you don’t need to have hands on the steering wheel! I thought it was only high speed driving that requires the hands on steering wheel.

Not on mine. Queue assist which is indeed up to 30mph reminds me regularly to put my hands on the wheel. Seems to be anything over maybe 10kmh (which is 6mph).

Oh, it’s very much connected.

It's obvious there is direct connection, as you can still steer with car and engine stopped (making a lot of force on the wheel, it's true)

Mine has occasionally sat in queues for up to 5 minutes with no input from me, but its stop/start - walking pace, other times it needs input just as frequently.

It mithers me frequently as I dont lean on the wheel so if its a straight road I’m not seen by the car to be putting any effort in.

I use it all the time, you eventually get used to what it can and cant handle, and you can see further ahead than it can, so give it more or less ‘rope’ to suit.

Back in the summer, I was sat on the M40 in very slow or stopped traffic for about an hour. I just sat back hands off the wheel and let the car take the strain, I can't remember exactly how long, but if stopped for a long period, probably around 10 mins I needed to restart the car using the knob, rather than just press the accelerator. It certainly made sitting in a traffic queue less stressful.
The reason for the queue was two men doing repairs to the central reservation, closing two lanes.

If the car comes to a halt in traffic with start-stop working just pressing the restore button on the steering wheel will restart the car and keep it moving hands off.

So just to clarify, in stop start traffic, if you stop and then don't move again within 3 seconds you need to press the resume button or the accelerator pedal?

What if Stop/Start kicks in or something else does?

Thanks
