Default Can I fit rear seat belts to my 144?

Hello Volvo forum. It's been a long time since I have been on here but I am after a little advice.

I have a 1975 144 Deluxe auto and need to put some seat belts in the rear.

Can I fit them from a 240 saloon or is there somewhere I can get them off the shelf?

Cheers, Simon

Aren't they fitted standard? Or was that only in the US. Anyway, all 140's are prepared for rear seat belts. You can fit those from the 200 series without a problem. Try to find them with the cover over the belt system.

Yes 240 saloon rear belts fit. They should be easy enough to find in a scrap-yard, or otherwise out a wanted ad on here.

Does the same apply to 145's? I have bought a 1970 model today and it has no rear belts fitted and i need to fit them before i can take the children out in it!
Is it a case of getting a set from a 240 estate as per the saloon?

Yes you can. Later model 145's come prepared, earlier models require some tinkering. My early 1970 model needed tinkering, it's the model with the rear vent windows. Could be the full rear window models are better prepared. You need the iron bar on the inside of that window. You can mount that, hence the tinkering.
Your model is the same as mine. I got a set with the bar.

Mine is early 1970 and has the rear vent windows so it sounds the same as yours then!
I will look out for the parts required on my next trip to the breakers then.
Many thanks for taking the time to reply )

If you can, take some photos of the work and post them up as a "how to". I'm sure it's a popular mod that others would like to reference in the future.

Cheers

My howto is easy. The cars are already fitted with welded nuts below the seats. So all you need are the studs I described. Some drilling, a few more nuts to make it fit. You can't put nuts on the topside due to lack of space. So I've only drilled the hole in the top section. On the lower end I put a nut above and under the steel just below the window. I must add I had the windows removed for surface rust treatment. Makes it a lot easier. I will post pics later.
Here's the parts drawing.

I'm having the same problem. I want to install a baby seat in the back seat but I need the belts.

The volvo 144 has support points to lock them?

Something like this: http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts...-seat/1006806/
