High milage xc70
Hey guys.
new here. but loved volvos since childhood (my dad used to own 144-244s in the early 80's). just got me a 2008 xc70 with 3.2 on it. all the compression tests were good for this milage (212K) and the car really runs great like butter with fast pulling from standstill and smooth gearshifting. how long could these engines and transmission last? and any known problems i should look for? the car was well serviced. Thanks |

lifespan
the engine should do the same again if treated to regular good oil and filters coupled with mechanical sympathy
manual gearboxrs are great-autos can be troublesome with higher miles all the rest of the car is just consumables that can and wear out from time to time |

Just bought 3.2, seems like a silky smooth engine, transmission also seems excellent, plan on getting an auto box flush from my local auto box specialist as it's done 107K and probably hasn't been changed. My research to date, which includes US forums, would suggest no particular problems with the SI6 engine or box provided they are looked after. Other than a thirst like George best, I'm only getting 15 mpg around town, but, so far, I love it and the engine really suits the relaxed feel of the car.

same here
Kinda surprised on how smooth the the engine and the auto-box are at this stage of the cars life.
i guess those 6 inline are really strong and so is the aisin box from japan. |
