Default 2000 S40 Crankshaft Sensor

Hi everyone, I'm glad that I found this web site, it seems like it will be helpfull for me. The check engine ligth is on in my car, my mechanic checked it and said it needs crankshaft sensor. I don't how hard to replace the crankshaft sensor, can I do the repair by myself, and how? Thanks

Just had mine done today - about $150 (but no bacon sarnie!). Assuming your engine is a similar layout to mine the sensor is between the clutch slave cylinder and the bell housing (yes I did ask where it was when I collected the car) and was told that you need thin fingers and also there is a convenient hole in the bell housing to "drop things in" just underneath it.....................

This keeps happening on this forum lately. Nothing much happens, and then exactly the same problem gets posted about something like 2 days in quick succession!

Its like when buses turn up. Either that or its some sort of conspiracy!

Default crankshaft position sensor

this sensor is needed to tell the engine when the engine is at total dead centre (tdc),it then supplies the spark to the cylinder to ignite the fuel air mix.

im amazed if it really is the sensor that the engine isnt really underpowered and misfiring
