I saw a rare green '69 Judge last weekend.

I once sold a 2001 Chevrolet Camaro T-top for a neighbor. That "secretary's car" had the 3.8l V-6 and the 4L60E (duly venerated for its strength) automatic transmission. While similarly bodied, your car is the cat's meow! It's more t than a "hot bonnet".
Thanks for the kind words about the Trans Am. It is indeed usually the only one about. Unfortunately it's SORN'd as of right now.

As for reflowing the solder, the tip I used was fairly broad but I do manage getting something a bit thinner. A couple of the joints flowed together a bit and I had a helluva time splitting them apart. I had a friend who is a certified micro-solderer reflow everything else on the board just to be safe. His work is better than mine since he has the correct tools!

As for the TPS, you have the cut the center post down to install the magnet and get the new TPS to fit correctly. Also, there's voltage range that you must get correct, otherwise the car will start in limp mode. Let me know if you have any questions. There are plenty of online tutorials about this as well.

Spent hour or 2 removing and spraying standard grill black. Now I need to do the rest as it all looks shabby because of the new grille haha.

(2005 D5 185 V70 @148,000 miles...)

Finally gave in and fitted a set of front discs. The inside edge on both of them was thinning out as the rust band grew wider and wider. Wasn't a huge issue, there was plenty of braking left but a bit of a vibration when they got hot and towing my caravan this weekend, I figured I could justify the expense.

£130 from Volvotradeparts on eBay. Seem OE parts, certainly the discs came with the calliper bracket retaining bolts which are meant to be changed every time. Can't say better value than that, I really couldn't get them cheaper elsewhere.

I rigged an oil extractor from an old chemistry lab vacuum pump, a 5 gallon pail with a gasketed lid and suitable lengths of hose. One hose connected the pump's suction port to the pail and the other was a length of 1/4" hose which reached down the dipstick tube.

It ran slowly and when I closed the throttling orifice to increase the suction, the sides of the pail collapsed so I know the system was quite free of air leakage.
15 torturous minutes of extraction yielded barely a pint (16 oz.) of oil. I was stumped.

The oil I had collected resembled semi-dissolved jam. 'Twas all shifty and wavy, not like plain, familiar oil sloshing in the bottom of a pail.
I had a heart attack.

Pulling the drain plug saw the oil drain normally.
The pail I had used for my extractor was clean. It had been 1/4 full of floor cleaner but rinsed out perfectly.

I must try this extractor again as I need it for another car. This was an experimental run.

Perhaps the 1/16" inner diameter is simply not big enough for effective oil suction.
I'm still wondering about the appearance of the "drawn pint" because it was from a dealership's oil change. They used a Volvo filter alright but heaven only knows what kind of oil. Some kind of "motor honey" quieting agent came to mind.

Put the S60 in to Charlwood Automotive to get the alarm fixed. I was going to live with it but then kept getting notes at work telling me my lights were flashing in the car park.

I booked it in to get the module sorted and typically the fault disappeared again.

Never mind, at least it's done I suppose... And she did pass an MOT with no advisories earlier this month.

Did you have the oil filler cap off, just in case you were creating a vacuum inside the engine,?

Yet another flat... picked up a self tapping screw - noticed an odd wobble and some tramping as I went round the roundabout 300 yards from home - totally flat by the time I got home a few seconds later................got two Michelin Cross Climate 95V XL paid for and waiting to be put on the front end at Formula1....looking at where the screw has gone in - rather suspect I'd better order another two to match and balance things out!!!!!!!
