Default 3.0 24v lump required.

Having brought three 740s back from the dead, then kept them barely alive, I got a gem 960 with FVSH and a wad of bills. Driving back from London to Devon today, thrilled to bits with the excellent drive, the oil pressure warning lamp glimmers; next thing, I'm on the hard shoulder with a flapping sound then all the ignition lights come on as I put it in neutral and slow to a stop. Can't turn the crank, so suspected seizure. Maybe the oil pump seized and broke the cambelt.

Anyone got any ideas about re-cons, or know of a good replacement? Anyone got any ideas about what to do next?

Maybe you have a funny tale about getting dragged home (Thanx RAC) to be told what a useless c*nt you are wasting all that money I told you it was a lemon etc.

Sorry to hear of your predicament bud..it can happen to the best of us.

Nothing worse than that feeling of having been sold a lemon unawares. Nice people/person.

My advice..find yourself a nice 6pot diesel to fit and keep the car.

Well done with the ressurected 740s!
Regards

Thanks, bud. You're right; it can happen to the best of us - it's just happened to me!

It's got the LPG conversion; it's not connected in the bay, as a previous owner tried to remove it to sell seperately. He gave up quite soon. I have receipt and service bills from 2009. A diesel if I can get one and I can finish what he started re. the gas. Or...

...does anybody know where I can get a good re-conditioned 3.0 lump and/or somewhere that will make a good job of fitting it?

What chance a low-miler with the full monty?

How much for a good used engine?

As it 'appens, the MOT on my 940 goes pop on Monday. The test is on Wednesday. Need a good result or I'm grounded!
