S40 enquiries
I'd be grateful if someone could answer the following questions regarding the S40 CD 2 litre model.
1. Where is the engine no. stamped? The handbook says on the r.h.s. of the engine near the distributor cover. Well I can't see it anywhere, even with the black plastic cover removed from the top of the engine. 2. How can I adjust the front passenger seat for height? The book says that a Volvo dealer will do this. There is no obvious means of adjustment visible, as there is for the driver's seat. Both my front seats are not heated but have plastic side trims attached (for storage). 3. Will the hard plastic floor trays from either a 440 or 340 fit the S40? (I know that 240 ones are too big). 4. On lifting the bonnet I noticed a micro switch close to the bonnet catch mechanism. Is this part of the alarm system or is it for a bonnet lamp (which doesn't exist on my car)? Cheers. VolvoFan. |

RE: S40 enquiries
the engine number, as you rightly state, should be on the timing belt cover, but, they are self adhesive, and are prone to come off if engine has been presure washed. the switch on the bonnet is a sensor for the alarm system. paul |

RE: S40 enquiries
It seems strange that this important means of engine identification can be so easily removed. (Imagine fraudulent practices). Shouldn't it be permanently stamped on the engine casting somewhere?
