RE: 2.0T troubles
dan
yeah bit of a bummer i know, but i suppose one of the perils of owning a car, and buying privately i suppose x( the service manager did invite me to have a look but its in brum and im in coventry so cant really, said "never seen one like it before", MMmmm standard response manual out there.. that is the all in price, including the new studs and locking nuts if needed, if not £45.00 off the bill. and the previous owner was a woman who used to take the kids to school by the look of it, there is wear on the built on booster sides and it only had 30k on the clock, so lots of little journies by the looks of it, and if she was anything like my missus she wouldn't have bothered letting the turbo cool. as for the grill etc, hold onto it until next month of that is possible, i'll take it then mate. so, get her back tommorrow night, see what a difference there is, and i thought i was getting the hang of the right foot as well, dead chuffed i had stopped wheel spinning so much, but looks as though the power was just ebbing away... oh well, i'll let you know how she flies when she comes back. you get your wing sorted ?? later scott |

RE: 2.0T troubles
tom
the engine should be allowed to idle after stopping to allow oil to continue to circulate around the turbo to allow it to cool. Most Common Causes Of Turbo Faliures 1. HARD DRIVING, IMMEDIATELY ON STARTING. The engine has not built up enough oil pressure to lubricate the turbocharger adequately. 2. SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY AFTER DRIVING. The turbo is extremely hot and still spinning at high revs and there is no oil to lubricate the bushings and dissipate the heat. 3. LACK OF OIL, OR DIRTY OIL. Without oil, the entire engine will fail. Dirty oil will carry debris (metal slivers and carbon pieces) into the turbo bushings. from http://www.turboclinic.co.uk/info.html also see http://www.turbotechnics.com/turbo/turbofacts.htm for some more info cheers scott |

They couldn't do a dents away type thing, so it needs the wing respraying. Luckily the paint hasn't faded at all so matching will be a synch. So he tells me. ;-) One day turn around, jobs a flyer! Later, Dan. |

RE: 2.0T troubles
umm......
Due to a ton of stress (I hate Dutch health insurance companies) I haven't had a chance to look at it yet... I've gotta hover it out at the weekend for the trip back to Leicester for easter so I'll probably look at it then. I'll keep you posted :) Glad she's back to full power - remeber those Gatso's though }( Stu |
