So what is your guys air box mod to the standard box with a performance panel filter?

Last time i drilled holes into a mk5 RS2000 air box it sounded awful and did not run any smoother. So i ended up tapeing the holes up

I have looked at mine bvrifely and can see its a litte restricive in places.

Any help weclome

i'd rather not dude....i dont want my engine sucking in hot air. Its already expanded then
From racing experiance cones only work well with loads of cold air boxed away from and heat....works very well in an open airbox on motorbikes but not in enclosed space of an engine bay.

thanks anyway

Removing restrictions in intake system will nearly always bring benerfits, some greater than others,

Not had alot to do with GDi tuning tho, running it on optimax and putting abit of redex in engine oil to try and keep intake valves from getting coked up might be best thing to do

I have a K&N panel filter in my T4 and it deffinately revs harder over 4.5k. Have removed the foam from the airbox too although that doesn make any difference apart from noise.

Yeah all that flaming noise I get, it drives me crazy, I've put some "noise dampening" stuff round my K & N has helped a lot. (If interested, search for my thread on this in "modified cars" forum I think it was).

So my advice to any of you is if you DO remove the foam from the airbox, try and keep it intact as you may want to use it in the future for other "noise prevention" purposes!

Pete
