Motorleistung Eingeschränkt / Motor Performance Limited

My 2005 XC 90 2.5 T Auto just displayed a message when I started it; the message is in German as that is where I bought the car:

Warning Message "Motorleistung Eingeschränkt" = "Motor Performance Limited"

I was driving the car about an hour before and as I put my foot down to accelerate, the gear changed down and then the car seemed to misfire. But without any noticable problem, I finished my short journey.

Can anybody help me?

Went onto Google Translate and it said 'Horsepower Limited'.

You need to get the codes read. However if you had a missfire, its worth checking potential causes, spark plugs, coils etc.

Sounds like it's gone into limp mode for whatever reason
