PV rear axle
Does anyone have for sale a decent rear axle for my 1962 PV544?
I have already spent considerable money on buying what was supposed to be a very low mileage back axle, only to find the internals were rust-pitted. I took the two rear axles to a specialist recommended by Amazon Cars to have one good one made out of the two. I now have a back axle that does not whine too bad, but still clonks when pulling away and decelerating. It is driving me nuts! So a known low mileage back axle is required. |

I don't have an axle but I do have a pair of half shafts in good condition should you be making up one good axle from parts you have.
I also have a good differential in good condition with no play in it. All of the above is for sale. See Pics. A top gearbox & diff builder is:- Hardy Engineering. Address: 268 Kingston Road, Leatherhead, KT22 7QA. Phone: +44 1372 378927

PV rear axle
Hi
Thanks for contacting me. Having already had one back axle rebuilt, I really do not want to go through the cost of having a second one rebuilt. So far it has cost me close to a thousand pounds to buy a back axle and have one rebuilt by a specialist recommended by Amazon Cars. I think you have got to be really lucky to get a good back axle from lots of second-hand bits. I think the parts you are selling are OK on mine. At the moment i am looking for the Volvo tool to spread the diff housing so that I can have a go at re-shimming it myself. I don't think i can make it any worse! It is either that or a complete rear axle that is known to be good. At present my PV is tucked away for the winter. To be honest I am pretty fed up with it. I need a few car shows/Volvo meets to re-kindle my enthusiasm. Best regards Tony |
