I woz a thinkin

If you are not trying to replicate something that (may or may not) represents an "original" part you can mock up something by taking measurements from the vehicle.

The wider strap at the rear of the vehicle (nearest to the tow hitch ball) fits on the boot floor recess between the fuel tank and the rear valance. If I remember correctly the width of this piece is about the width of the fuel / petrol tank.

The narrower strap towards the front of the vehicle is on the other side (frontwards on vehcilce) of the fuel tank. If I remember correctly this isn't as wide as the fuel tank. It has to fit between the turrets for the rear shocks (or is the springs? - anyway look and it should be clear)

The thickness of the straps on my tow bar are about 5 or 6 mm and the width (from memory) isn't wider than 60mm. So long as you can get a few good holes in there I'm thinking 50mm or 2 inch strip would be just dandy.

The tow bar (obviously) fits under the vehicle and there are a mirror image set of straps that sit on top of the vehcile structure inside the boot. The mounting hardware is about M10 (I think) - use 8.8 grade! - ...

...I'm fairly sure each strap utilises four bolts with washers and nuts. Reaching the fixings on the front side of the fuel tank requires inspector gadget arms.

I fully appreciate the quoted dimensions are pretty vague but if you compare with thicknesses and gauges used on other vehicles you should come pretty close to making something usable and safe.

The main message is "where the parts fit" I guess - so making a tow bar from scratch, fitting in the same place and looking at the picture on the VP site for inspiration could be done for the adventurous.
