V40 XC 2015 power steering rack

Good afternoon, I have just been informed by Volvo that the bearings on the power steering rack on my V40 XC 2015 have worn out, this is after 41,000 miles. I would appriciate your thoughts on this matter. Have been quoted a cost from the main dealer I purchased the vehicle from at around £1300 for the repair, however after a limited amount of back and fore with the main dealer and Volvo they will reduce this by 50%.

Why am I still not accepting of this? My thought is that this is not an issue I would expect to be dealing with on a vehicle of volvo's quality, a vehicle that is less than 5 years old and only has 41,000 miles on the clock, along with a service history. Should I accept this or keep asking questions?

I would really appriciate your opinions. Thank you.

It’s an electric steering rack so what bearings are away???
