Default 03 V40 1,9 diesel. I want more power, what do i do?

Hello, i have a 2003 V40 diesel that needs a new flywheel and while im at it i'd like some more power, anyone know of a bigger turbo that bolts up to the stock manifold? (Will add a watercooled intercooler when i up the boost)

Also i would like to replace my dual masse flywheel with a solid flywheel, anyone know where i can buy one?

I have no experience with replacing flywheels but a solid flywheel is going to give you an engine like a tractor or old van according to the internet.

That and adding a bigger turbo is probably going to result in a short engine life!

I would suggest that for more power you should regularly service your engine, maybe use a 5W30 oil, clean your EGR or replace it, clean the MAF or replace it with an OEM part (or genuine). Service your brakes so they don't drag. Check your vacuum and boost control solenoid.

I don't know whether putting a bigger turbo on it and risking headgasket failure is worth the hassle (or even practical).

Maybe have a look around for a T4 instead?

I would get a t4 if i could but they are expensive... If i can get a solid flywheel i Will lighten it to prevent tractor like sluggish revs and such. I have read something on this forum about people building hybrid turbos and such but that thread didnt really go in depth AS to what was done.

Remapping diesels can bring surprising gains before any hardware changes are necessary. Stick your reg in here and see what these guys offer? https://www.celtictuning.co.uk

The DMF doesn't just smooth out the firing pulses, it also acts as a 'torque reservoir' to avoid the crankshaft being strained/bowed/bent/cracked by high torque outputs that cannot be rapidly disappated by the transmission.

Have looked at chip tuning but i was thinking that i might as well look into hardware changes while im in there.

I don't think you'll get much gain from hardware changes without a corresponding remap... You'll effectively be running your new hardware outside the stock map's operating envelope. It'll be far more cost-effective to spend your money on just the remap, unless you want to massively boost the power... in which case a different car would probably be a better option?

I would reckon that you can get a T4 for less than the cost of a DMF and remap and you'll have about 50% more power!

Its not the initial cost of a t4 that is the problem, its the cost og ownibg it. Since im 18 and just got my lisence insurance on a t4 is quite pricey, that combined with gas prices hovering around 2$ per liter would kill my student sized wallet.
