Mine restarts within half a second. Maybe there's a problem with yours?

Don't forget that you pay reduced VED on the assumption that you don't deliberately disable emission reduction systems on the car.

Would recommend you spend a little time getting the hang on it. There are two brake pedal switches and the engine only cuts out when the second pressure is reached.

Stop start in congestion is a nightmare in mine. Half the time it cuts out whilst creeping up to the vehicle in front, only to restart because I haven’t actually stopped.

You’re joking about the VED right??

2 switches?? First I’ve heard of it. The stop start in the. wife’s VW behaves in a logical manner, my V90 is dire in comparison. My individual profile has it disabled and I’d disable it entirely if at all possible.

I have a MY17 S90, had it 5 months now (love it so much - previously a long time S60 owner).

The auto start stop.

Mine too had the two switch system, soft braking to a stop, and auto brake kicks in, engine still running....

If i then pressed harder on brake engine stopped.

Restarted within half a second on touching the accelerator....

However

When car came back from either a service (with software updates) or a later alarm sensor replacement the "two switch" start stop brake system never worked anymore....

Bizarre and really frustrating.....

I put it down to software updates and have had to live with it......

I agree. It is also dire compared to the iteration fitted to Honda. The Honda certainly does require a firm foot on the brake to stop the engine, so the driver can choose, and indeed a notice to press harder for engine stop comes on the dash if driver chooses not to. The Volvo stops the engine regardless, often before the wheels have stopped rolling. It is maddening and causes needless wear and tear for zero net benefit.

My mates Mercedes GLC also has a two stage system whereby you need to press harder on the pedal for the engine to stop.

I have the same issue on mine. I booked in to the dealer for this and they said its normal behavior.

Load of rubbish if you ask me.

i posted earlier that i didnt get the new software update on my service at the end of may - had a look around in the menu and turns out i did. got the connected safety feature but no new icon (which would be the main giveaway).
anyways i wish volvo would tell you what they do when you take your vehicle in - they send a video of some guy telling me the tire tread depths but no printout of the specifics which would be handy to know

I also got the new safety connected icon, so it makes no sense why the stop/start icon wasn't updated.

that's where Volvo fails. Fails because no explanation is given.

Apparently the software upgrade is done as one pack. So my guess is that it only applies modules which are included in this pack.

However I don't know if the car gets directly updated from volvo servers or done locally from the dealer server. If its the latter, then there could be a mismatch in versions, hence it did not get applied.
