Starting car with non-registered key
I managed to lose my one and only V70 (P2, 2004) key before Xmas. Must be in the house somewhere. Quoted ~£500 for a mobile guy to come out and replace it so thought I'd wait as it was 'bound to turn up'...
Anyway - I've just had a new key supplied but obviously the immobiliser doesn't recognise it. I need to get the car to the Volvo indy so they can code the key to the car. They are about 20 miles away and I don't fancy being towed that far. Long shot: Is there any way I can start the car without a coded key, as a one off? I've got VIDA and tools and access to the car itself. tbh I think I already know the answer but just want to double check before I spend yet more on getting it trailered. Happy to receive DMs if you know a way but aren't comfortable posting it in public. Thanks. |

dealer or indie wont be able to code any keys you supply only a new key with the chip and code can be programed it needs to interface with the volvo main frame and will remove any old or lost keys take proof of car ownership with you to avoid having to dash home for it.

Thanks Simmy - the Indy supplied the key so have the various numbers and will do the coding. Quite rightly they did need the V5 + photo ID.
Such a massive, expensive, pita replacing a key+chip+remote. No doubt as soon as the old one is wiped it will turn up. |

a service key can be had but it is just a key with no fob functions plus its also cheaper than a fob with all functions you dont have to remove old keys but if a key is lost outside or stolen it is best to remove them
