The difference is tiny, but every little helps

21mpg is pretty woeful, I guess you do quite a lot of town driving?

How many mpg should I be getting on different types of road? I don't think I have ever seen it go above low 20s. Do you have a s60 t5 as well?

Yes a fair bit of town driving but also dual carriageway.

Eurocarparts are doing 5 litre full synthetic 5w40 for 18.99. Not sure how permissible this would be to use?

Hello, Buy 5 of those. The price is right and the ACEA rating is 'good-to-go' for your turbo. Kira

Used to have an S60 T5 auto about ten years ago. Your mpg is probably about right for a car which is mostly urban use. BTW the 2.5T isn't a T5, they're different engines.

Did u spend much on maintenance? Mine has had 1000s spent on it by previous owner. I think the last service bill from about 1 yr ago was a 1000 paid by previous owner. Mine is a 2001 T5. Good thing with 2nd hand cars and being an auto no clutch replacement to worry about.

Luckily the petrol is cheaper than it was which is a help.

Last year was the first year I used 0w/30 A5/B5 on my T5 V70 after owing it for 7 years. Yes it does make a difference to the MPG, I seem to be getting 3 - 4 MPG more. I do a lot of short town driving so I guest the increase must be particular due reduced friction when cold.

Okay this is what I will be putting in next. Do you do your own oil changes? You never really know what garages are putting in when you leave it to them. Does A5/B5 mean it is long life oil?
