urgent brake help neeeded
Hello
I've managed to get myself into a bit of a pickle, I took my V70 to a garage for the outer CV joints to be changed but all they did was round my only locking wheel key off so now I cant get my wheels off. This wouldn't normally be a problem, I can order a new key but my rear brake has been sticking on (hence the poor fuel economy) and now its got down to the metal. I've bought disks and pads for all 4 wheels but with my knackered key I have only been able to get 1 wheel off, luckily I've got the wheel that is sticking slack but as I cant get the other wheel off should I risk just replacing the one disk and pads or leave it as it is till I can get the replacement key? I need the car for work so it has to get sorted this weekend. Thanks |

I'd be tempted to get the locking nuts removed without the key before I'd change one side of the brakes, just replace them with normal wheel nuts.

very common and loads of threads with ideas for you, i used an old impact driver and a big lump hammer to remove mine, should be able to use your knackered key to do it this way

[QUOTE= cut the wheel off.[/QUOTE]
^^^^^ A bit drastic, go to someone who does a bit of welding and get them to weld on a bit of bar to the top of it, the heat from the welding and using the bar which is now welded to the top of the wheel nut should sort it.
