Why the flywheel?

In 15+ years of owning cars of various types I have never heard of a flywheel failing. Clutch, yes- obviously.

I wouldn't bother- It won't be £750 well spent IMHO.

These are dual mass flywheels, essentially one flywheel within another, rotation is stopped by a series of springs between the two, obviously there is no lubrication so wear out well before a solid flwheel would.
The reasoning for them is to smooth out the power strokes, they came about when previous petrol driving people started driving diesels but didn't like the harshness of a diesel.

Default Kalmar Union single mass flywheel.

I can offer a single mass replacement for any of Volvo's recent dual mass flywheels.

You can find them here on my website:

Regards, Don.

Not doubting the Quality of the item Don, but where is the saving?
£408 is more than a DMF.
