V70, 2003 No Oil Pressure Stop Safely???
Hi everyone! First post here, and very glad to having found this great Forum.
I was driving my V70 (2003, 2.4 Estate, approx. 130 000 miles) yesterday, when, all of a sudden, I got the warning message "NO OIL PRESSURE STOP SAFELY". Stopped and checked the oil level which was fine. Drove slowly down to the nearest garage who managed to run a diagnostic on it. The Mechanic told me the pressure sensor was faulty and would have to be replaced. He checked the oil pressure and said it was normal, and that I was good to go. I was out on a longer round trip (approx. 600 miles), and this happened very early during that. I drove the car the 600 miles, without any suspicious behaviour (noises or whathaveyou). Having read a bit on a couple of forums regarding this "NO OIL PRESSURE...", I thought I'd better check with you guys that the mechanic was right, since there seems to be a lot of things that cancuse this warning message. The dignostic (Smartbox) printout reads as follows: "Total codes: 002, Code001: ECM-140A - Manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP). Faulty signal" and: "Code002: ECM-0 240 (1, 0, 2, 40) Please refer to relevant technical manual" As you've already gathered, I don't understand this at all, apart from the "...absolute pressure sensor (MAP). Faulty signal" bit. It would be great if I could have some confirmation that this is in fact the problem - THANKS!!! Pete Last edited by 7v0; Mar 21st, 2012 at 15:03. |

"Manifold absolute pressure sensor" as I understand it, that sensor senses air pressure, not oil...
I think the best advice probably to get it on a "proper" Volvo fault code reader, but I'm new to Volvo so may be corrected |

Aaah OK,so the guy at the garage was wrong then...and I drove all that distance ; still he said the oil pressure was OK. Hope I haven't damaged anything by driving it on the motorway for all those hours. Nothing seemed out of the ordinairy though, the car beahving and sounding as per usual.
I must admit I find all this stuff with sensors, software and fault codes confusing...must get it to a garage ASAP. Does it have to be a Volvo garage, or can any competent garage sort this kind of thing out? |
