heater fan only working on 4th setting...? - Page 2

I've just stumbled across this thread again. Well, the problem turned out to be an open circuit in the resistor pack, as was suggested above. Not the thermal fuse BTW.
The resistor pack is screwed on to the plastic trunking behind the glovebox, near the motor.

Bare in mind 740s and 940s are different. 740s have 4 fan speeds, 940s have 5 fan speeds so likely to be different "resistor packs".

If you find out where it is on a 940 can you let me know please? Trying to take the one out of my old 940 to try on the Mini's heater motor.

yep, mine was the same too! all fixed now :-)

Mine has only ever worked on 1 2 3 and 4. 5 has never worked.

Get one off a scrapper.
