Default S60 Alarm Problem 53 plate

Hi All

'Alarm System Service Required' coming up on the dash and I know this is a common problem. I am selling the car and need to fix it.

Went to my local Arnie Volvo and got a big speel about diagnostic check, siren and then software to wed it to the car - way over 300 quid!

Surely they are at it?

I'm confused - some say an easy DIY fix, but Volvo are saying you can't without the computer software - Help guys!

Someone somewhere is making a lot of money...

As above, a straightforward job with the replacement kit, get yourself a pop riveter and replacement rivets to re-attach your front offside wheel arch liner.
You'll drill out the originals to get access.

The siren module lives behind it alongside your screen wash reservoir.

As above Doumac. These alarm sirens are 'plug and play'. Front wheel and wheel arch liner off (o/s), swap them over, sorted. "300 Quid!!!" was he wearing a mask???

Half price, 'bargain' ! Think of how you could spend the remaining £150 you've 'saved' !

I did mine last week. The siren kit from Rufe was about £95 and had everything needed to do the job; rivets, bracket, security bolt etc. and very good instructions.
Total time spent doing the job was about 3/4 hour and the system is plug and play, so no software needed. All error messages cleared themselves the first time the system was set.

Apparently not. The failed batteries in the unit leak onto the circuit board and destroy it.
