Default Brake Bleed Nipples

decided to change the brake fluid on the car, i sheard off one nipple and fitted another caliper. the others i have tried and soaked in wd40 but alas they are not wanting to budge either albeit that the nipples are still intact at the moment. do i send it to the garage and let them make a mess or fit another pair of rear calipers that i can bleed .
your comments as always good bad or funny will be appreciated.
thanks
mike

Hi you could try a bit of gentle heat as they are both made of dissimular metals and they will expand differently it is worth a try

I'd suggest you soak in penetrating oil rather than WD40, also try tighening the nipple first this seems to work better for me at least.

I cringe every time I have to touch these bleeding things. :-)
I did one on a Fiesta a couple of months ago and the hex faces rounded off. Luckily I managed to get it moving by using a small tool a bit like a pipe wrench. Very useful for such circumstances.
You have set me thinking that when I do the brake fluid, probably this summer, that I shall change the nipples as a matter of course.

agree on that one, i have four new nipples in hand, so will see how i get on .i am tempted just to replace the calipers with second hand, the front pair cost me £20.

Mike, for the cost of getting your brakes blead at a garage (£60 - £90) its probably worth paying for them to do it and take the risk i would say.

When it comes to bleeding , garages seem more interested in the nipples on my wallet

Broke mine off the other day, tried everthing to get it out but failed. A new caliper was the needed in the end at £150 plus £98 surcharge!!! Luckily they took the old one..

If it snaps off you could use an easy out to extract it. Beauty is the hole is already there. You may have to widen it a bit with a drill but it should come out after a good soak with GT85.
