1989 240 GLT breaking
I've just bought a crash-damaged 240 estate to use as spares for my own GLT, so if anybody wants to buy bits off it feel free to ask if they're available. It's done 150k miles, it's dark blue, tan interior and has the B230E engine with 5 speed M47 gearbox and K-jetronic fuel injection.
The grille, headlights, front bumper, NS indicator, NS wing, battery tray and radiator support are all toast. The bonnet is dented and scratched on the NS corner, but has no rust or creases and could be repaired. Doors are all good with no/minimal rust, tailgate isn't rusty but has a dent on one side of the window and peeling lacquer along the top.The OS taillight has a chip out of it, NS is fine. All glass is available. Tailgate struts are strong and have been replaced at some point I think. The interior is being used for my own car, but I might have some bits which I don't need or bits off my own car which are still usable, such as door surround rubbers, door sill covers, seatbelts, instrument cluster and most dash parts. Has an original volvo radio cassette with manual but I don't know yet if it works (battery smashed). It's got a sticker on it saying it was repaired in 1998. I'm told engine/drivetrain was in fine condition before the crash, have service history showing servicing every 6k miles at a volvo specialist. Haven't started it due to lack of battery and damage to wiring in engine bay. The waterpump and radiator are going in my car. Wheels are standard GLT alloys, I'm swapping the best tyres on my own car but 5 alloys with varying tyres, all legal but of varying quality and some leaky will be available. No wheels are bent or kerbed, all have centre caps but some have scratches around the boltholes. It also has a single electric towbar, made by Indespension according to the guy I bought it off but I haven't looked under to confirm. Car is in Surrey just off M25 J11. I've got a maximum of 10 days before the car has to be hauled off. Small parts can be posted but anything big or heavy will have to be picked up. Feel free to ask any questions or ask about bits! Thanks! Last edited by wooble; May 30th, 2009 at 00:46. Reason: Forgot to say it was an estate! |

I know you said your using the interior, but if you have any door handle surrounds , or the inside boot handle frame i would be interested, or, a longshot i know, but the door pockets.

Boot handle frame is missing and door pockets are being used, I do have a good set of dark blue door pockets with all mounting hardware, though
I will probably have 3 or 4 good door handle surrounds with matching backing plates, I'll let you know how many are left when I've rebuilt the interior from the pile o' parts. Last edited by wooble; May 30th, 2009 at 19:01. Reason: Spelling |

Tailgate - £20 if I take it off for you, £15 if you whip it off yourself. Pick-up only either way as it's too big and heavy to send. I can also remove the glass for you if you want.
Jen - I'm not sure which clips you mean exactly, if you could post a picture or a description it would help. Provisionally if I have the right kind, call it a fiver for an envelope full of them? The car is now being scrapped on Monday 8th, so anything people want has to be pulled by then. I can store bits for a short time after this, but not more than a few weeks. The interior, steering wheel, radio, aerial, rear wiper motor, water pump, NS tail light are now gone and alloys are provisionally gone also. |
