The problem with paints, is that they eventually start peeling off, then the bumpers look worse than before.
The advantage of oil is If you wipe the bumper tops with oil, although it doesn't last that long, at least all you need to do is give it another wipe over and it's back to looking good again. That only takes 5 minutes!

I have the receipts for bumper painting on my car and it was in 2008 so lasted pretty well. I’ll stick with painting them and see how it looks. My other T-5R has new bumper tops from Volvo and they still look pretty good, about 3 years old now so not new anymore I suppose! I won’t be painting those!

Hi all,
On grey I use G4 Firstly a good wash to get dirt off and dry. Next clean the area to be treated with isopropyl and let dry. Next use either a application pad or a lint free cotton pad otherwise end up with fluff on your newly treated surface. Mark

Often wondered how restorative it is. Excellent protection, but I've got very patchy tops due to UV.

Jolly good, what was the paint you used? Looks to be spot on colour wise - not the weird black most people tend to go for.

I bought two different makes and shades of grey but this one was the one I decided to use as it gave the best oem colour. The other one was a bit darker and looked too shiny.
Ordered everything from Paints4u.com Also used a plastic clear primer that acts as an adhesive for the the grey top coat. Took plenty of prep as bumper was so chipped. You’d probably need two cans to do front and rear bumpers, you might get away with one but I didn’t. |

Nice finish! It's looks like new! Is it recommended to put a protective coat over it or will it withstand the elements as is?
