Default Bit of a lucky one...

Drove to work this morning as per normal, got out the car and heard a wee dripping noise....

Turned round to face the car and **SPLOOSH** it decided to drop it's coolant all over the floor!!!!

Turned out the Jubilee clip that holds the bottom radiator hose had severely corroded at the bottom, to the point of the whole thing being C shaped

Phoned the missus, who brought me a gallon of coolant and a water down at lunch time and just fixed it at the side of the road

Thank god that didn't happen on the Edinburgh Bypass at 70

Mick

Glad you got it sorted without damage.

Always a surprise when your waters break the first time.

lol it suprised me too. Only time ive ever needed the RAC. doing down a dual carrageway into town. All is fine, temp is normal. Stop at the red light, and see steam! LOTS of steam! after much swearing and wondering where i can safely stop, I chose a little side road 100 yards past the traffic lights.

Stop and open the bonnet. Top rad hose burst, sending all the water / coolant over the entire engine!

I can see all i need is a top rad hose, and volvo is only 10 mins taxi ride away! Shame it was 6pm on a sunday evening

RAC arrived in 10 mins, fitted a temp hose, followed me back home to make sure all was well, then left. Stirling service!

Needless to say, top and bottom rad hoses replaced a few days later.
