Default Tyre size question

I've never seen my V70 since I purchased it and I am out of the UK at the moment but I was looking to get new tyres whilst I'm away. It currently has 235/40 on an 18 inch rim but I would like to have 235/45. Is this possible? I'm sure that info is on the label on the b pillar but I don't have access to this. Tia.

That will put out your mph and distance calculations as the wheel revs per mile will be less. you might be able to get that changed, full details will be in the on-line Volvo accessory catalogue under WHEELS as to what is allowable .

40 is the highest aspect you can have on an 18” rim on this particular car. 45 may cause problems.

For the record, the existing tyres that are on it are the wrong size. It should have 245/40ZR18 on it.

If you want to make the ride more comfortable, assuming that’s what you want to do given you want to go to a 45% aspect ratio, you’d be better off with 17” alloys. The difference is night and day… much more comfortable than 18’s in my opinion.

There’s too many potholes nowadays for low profile tyres, on a car that has standard non-air suspension anyway. With 17” alloys, you’d be going to a 50% ratio (225/50/17 would be the tyre size)... 15% more than you have now. Correct alloy offset is 50 for these cars (ET50) on a 17” rim.

I run 45's on my 18s and no issues to report.
Skinner tyre though, 225/45/18.

Agree on the potholes, roads are shocking!
