Default Flat Battery

1999 S80 2.4 170bhp. 98.000mls.
This vehicle, like others i know, suffers from AFBS (accute flat battery syndrome). If i leave the keys in the ignition for any length of time the starter motor has a reluctance to turn over. The battery semms to have plenty of life though.
The car is in use all day and even if i sit in the car with the just the radio on for an hour or so there is a good chance it will not start.
A larger amperage battery has been fitted.
Any thoughts?:-(

Default RE: Flat Battery

Having the ignition on (to operate the battery) does appear to be quite a drain onthe battery. Coupled with the long lead from the boot to starter motor I'm not suprised there are problems. I did hear some reports of 'faulty batteries' a couple of years ago - may be a long shot but you could try talking to your dealer.
