XC90 Commercial
So I went to pick up and e-bay purchase last night from a chap who ran a HGV trailer rental company... long story short his son works in the business as a fridge mechanic and has a Mk II XC90 Commercial - just like the Land Rover Discovery/Freelander vans.
Looked really good, in silver with the black plastic wheel arches and skirts rather than body colour. He showed me round it - looked a professional conversation with wire mesh bulkhead, blacked our rear windows and rubber lining to the floor - no back seats. I didn't get chance to ask him if this was something he did himself or was a recognised conversion. I'd left my phone in the car but couldn't get any pics. Anyone know of another?

Wonder if you can then claim the VAT back on the purchase?
Also is there still a BIK saving when running a van over a car?

I like the urban styling kit, looks a bit more "XC" to me. In that respect, the XC90 isn't very much "XC" at all.
But I didn't like it all that much anymore after I saw the price ticket! Somehow I feel that the car should come standard with the urban kit, it makes it look less bulky. Some manufacturers seem to follow that reasoning. I do like the way the black trim is applied to the body of the car: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quRjlJWjFFQ

I spoke to NENE today about this conversion. They had a deal with VOLVO direct to buy XC90's and then convert them, changing them to N1. They only completed 20 conversions in 2017/2018 before Volvo pulled the plug as it didn't fit with their vision of VOLVO cars. I'd love one to replace my Defender but it seems they are rare and don't come up for sale very often. Being N1 they are VAT claimable and BiK is for a van so relatively cheap. |
