S40 2005 1.6 ps leak
Hi folks. Not been on here in a while as i sold my v70 d5 a while ago. Ive just bought an s40 a 2005 1.6 petrol with a few issues. The power steering pumps been leaking at the high pressure line union . Is it possible to buy the correct seals or do i need to buy a whole new line due to a possible seal inside the union? The teflon seal was a gonner situated near the ends of the union thread when i took it off rather than at the base.
And i noticed the main line going through the union has a slight bit of movement in and out is this normal as im unsure if the leaks from this or the threaded part.? Dont fancy paying for a complete pipe if i dont have too. Cheers Last edited by argyll74; Aug 18th, 2017 at 22:15. |

On close inspection on the ps pump the high pressure thread port looks like its not completely flat for the nylon washer to seal against. There looks like half the srated area is broken off. Doubt its repairable. Looks like new ps pump is in order.
Is it possible to cut the hp line and fit one of the unions that ive seen on fleebay for £13?? Rather than buy the whole hp power steering pipe that goes to the rack? |
