Unhappy Help: Stuttering 2.0T Polestar

Hey All,

I have a problem with my 2011 V70 2.0T Polestar.

A few weeks ago it started to stutter when making a long corner at speed (think a clover leaf motorway slip road). When straitening after the corner under full throttle it seems to have a stutter, once, and then recover to normal.

Last week it got quite bad (the auto box also started to think that I was going much quicker than I was and started changing up really early, and not letting me change down to lower than 5th at 55mph) so I took it to the garage.

They found a fuel pressure code on the computer, but could not find anything wrong with the individual components, and they couldn't find any loose connections.

After doing some research they found something with the ECU software, did an update and sent me on my way. (Bye, bye 270 euros!)

The car feels amazing now (so I am guessing there was something in the update!), but this morning when going around the clover leaf the stutter was still there...

Does anyone else have a similar experience, or ideas what it could be?

Thanks in advance, Stace

I'm not sure if you'll get an answer. I don't think the 2.0T was ever sold in the UK in a V70/S80 and as most of the forum is based in the UK we won't have any experience.

And I guess I can't rename it to T5 (which is basically what the 2.0T polestar is...)

As it seems to only happen during acceleration through a high speed corner, it does seem likely to be a loose wire or fuel line getting kinked due to the G-Force.

I guess I need to either stop playing on the clover leafs or get the back end dismantled to get the tank out then (the garage checked everything they can without removing it...). But they have also said that is a very big job...

It's since happened again, and i have a better idea what is happening now. When under hard acceleration in a sharp corner the ECU thinks that there isn't enough fuel pressure - whether that is from a pipe kink, blockage or electrical gremlin I'm not sure.

Immediately afterwards it goes into a sort of get me home mode - it won't allow me to rev then engine past 3K - I'm guessing to stop itself running lean if it doesn't think it has the fuel pressure. After turning it off and on again it resets itself and drives normally (no loss of power, the car pulls like a train still and I can give full acceleration in a straight line without any problems...)
