UK postcodes can cover square miles, in a perfect world they cover no more than 32 houses, and sure it built up area's it mostly works that way.

I speak from an ex delivery driver who covered rural area's.

But yes, the earlier systems are terrible, although I think the routing engine is quite good, the newer ones are a lot simpler, I find txt typing nokia phone style makes entry a lot easier on the sensus systems

My Sensus, which is a High Performance Multimedia from 2012, allows both text typing on the keyboard in the center stack (yes, like an old cell phone) or the "Dymo wheel" in the main display.

Red face Postcode function in Satnav

Hello,
Thanks to Simon Jones for the pointer to the button that is supposed to let me search by postcode. However, on my unit nothing happens when I do like it says in the RTI manual and press enter after navigating to the postcode button. Except that after quite a while it takes me to the stored locations page... Not what I want at all!
Any ideas how to fix it? I've tried resetting the system.
Regards
Andy

Default Postcode function in Satnav

Thanks again Simon! Though I am not sure quite what to make of your observation this time!
The only thing I can think of doing is to unload the DVD so as to 'empty' the software and then try reloading it. So that's what I will unless some kind soul offers a definite fix before I get around to it.

If I get a mo tomorrow, I'll step thru the process and see if there is something we're missing.

Could it be that if postcodes aren't included in the map material, you get the result that's referred to in this thread? If I understood it correctly, the discs used in this case aren't from Volvo? Perhaps they lack some information? Perhaps Volvo's disc from the same time lacked the same information?

I don't know, I'm just guessing here. But it seems funny if a function to search for postcodes simply doesn't. It's like it had none to search for.

Once the postcode button has been pressed and it changes to say 'city', there is a qwerty keyboard below and you enter the first 4 characters, then it will show a space button to select and then you can put in the remaining characters.
