Default Intake fuel pump running constantly

Hi folks. I have a 2005 s40 1.6 petrol.

Batteries flat as the cars been sitting for mo ths prior to me purchasing it.

Ive notice the in tank pre fuel pump is running all the time.
Is the pump goosed or possibly a bad relay ?

Cheers for the pic clan. Removed the relay to test and hey presto the pump stops.

Tested the relay terminals 1 and 2 which are to the coil put 12v through them and im getting the click.

3 and 4 look like there permanently on which shows the same on the diagram

And when it switches it goes from 3 and 4 to the switch 5.

Seems like the relay is fine.

Im now thinking how is the pump still working??

Is the relay being held on by the CEM ...Was the relay warm when you first touched it ? Indicating it is ???

If you pull the relay out . socket terminal 1 should be dead until you crank the engine ...

what , all the time with the ignition off ? If so , unplug the engine control unit and see if it still stays live ?

I take it the ecu is in the box right next to the battery passenger side? 8mm nut iff the top. Sone plastic clips covering the wiring then a torx bolt in the middle to remove the wiring harness plug?

Cheers

Right i disconected the which i presune is the ecu hidden in a box next to the battery. U done the torx bolt in the middle of the multi plug and pulled it out. Pump still running?

So i connected another battery up using jump leads and hey presto it turned off!! Checked terminal 1 where the relay goes into 4v there pump not on still.

So im wondering if its a battery voltage issue?

Perhaps the battery is utterly useless ... Hope so , or it could be expensive , Presumably it won't start of it's own accord ...
