Default New Tyres

I'm going to have to replace all 4 tyres on my MY17 XC90 within the next couple of months after only 13,000 miles.

Any recommendations based on price, wear and road noise? They will be on 20" rims?

I have run Michelin Latitude 3 on 19 inch rims on my car. Fronts lasted 21k miles. Backs 30k miles. 13k seems a bit low even accounting for different usage patterns.....

I have used Michelin Pilot Super Sports (I think they have been replaced by a new version) that lasted a whopping 43k on 20", although this was on my previous A6 with AWD and I didnt hang about

Not sure what is the heavier car tbh, but the A6 in my version was just under 2 tonnes.

I'm running Goodyear on 18's, comfortable, quiets and 24k so far. Reccomended.

What are you doing to wear them out that fast?

I put Goodyears (F1 Asymmetric SUV) on mine recently, tyres replaced only due to punctures. They seem pretty decent. Noise rating was the clincher with wet weather and braking being up there.

I'm not sure Michelin do a decent enough 4x4 tyre at present in the right sizes. The Pilot Super Sport mentioned above is design for sports cars AIUI. And in that application works really well. But on a 2t 4x4?

The Cross Climates are meant to be the dog's doodads but don't come in the size I needed (our XC90 has 20s).

I had Dunlop QuattroMaxx tyres on my mk1 which worked very well.

Thanks for the suggestions. No idea why the existing Continentals are wearing out so fast as I only do normal motorway and town driving.

Hi

I'm looking to replace my tyres with 20" rims as well. Ideally looking for All Season M+S tyres as do a little off road and drive to the Alps etc in the winter.

Seems almost impossible to get M+S tyres for 275/45/20. Does anyone know if 275/50/20 would fit the car or have any problems??

There seems to be more all season tyres at this size (as matches tyre size for the Discovery!)

Thanks

Nigel

Fitting 50's instead of 45's would increase the overall wheel/tyre diameter by 28mm so might possibly cause problems. The speedometer readings would also be wrong showing 30mph when it's actually 31 and 60 when it's really 62. I don't know if this would affect any of the car's systems but in any case you'd have to check if it's a Volvo approved size for insurance purposes.

My mate fitted Pirelli Scorpion Verde All-Season 275/45/20 M+S tyres just a few weeks ago so that size is available.
