Engine overheating after heater core replacement.
Was driving the car the other day and the heater core ruptured causing a bunch of steam in the cab as well as the cab flooding! I was close to home and got there before the engine overheated. Put water in right away and then let sit overnight. Today I put in a new core and topped off with antifreeze. It took less than a half a gallon though. I guess too much water in the system. Ran the car till normal temp and checked for leaks prior to putting the dash pnls back on. All seemed fine untill I took it for a test run. Within 15 min, I had an engine overheat. Figured it was a vapor lock and let it cool a bit then opened the cap. I was able to get a few cups of fluid in (it was down). Drove again and overheated again! Is there a good way to bleed out the air?! Or maybe its due to not enough coolant to water ratio?

When the overheat starts to happen you need to check all hoses are too hot to hold first, particularly the heater pipes and radiator top and bottom hoses.
If one is significantly cooler or not as hot as the rest, you have a circulation issue.

As above, especially the pipe temperature either side of the thermostat - sounds like this episode may have tipped your 'stat over the edge and it may be stuck shut.
