Nearly forgot to ask, do I need to fit a clutch pedal switch for the cruise on these 99 model v70s or is one already there ?

reactivating this thread

For 1998 C70 coupe, is it difficult to retrofit a cruise control?

It's pretty well explained by Chris and Deathrider on here already.
The big differences are if it's a 99 model on. (e.g with the etm)
If not then it's a different process.
Since this was written a while back... I went and got the software installed into my cluster and fitted a secondhand stalk switch.
Very easy job if it's the later one.
Only sting in the tail was paying for software install.
But I seem to remember being told after that a secondhand cluster with it programmed in was a cheaper way to go about it.

Hi all

I have a late 1999 AWD Auto (with ETM)

YV1LW56C8X2xxxxxx

which doesnt have CC

I can fit a stalk with cruise control.

Approx how much would it cost to programme the ECU? Is that a Volvo dealer only option, or would a Volvo specialist garage be able to do it?

Thanks
Steve

I've read this thread and its nice to know that the newer ones are almost plug and play. however, I have the older one, a 97 2.4T petrol manual AWD and I want to add CC to mine, I know I need a stalk, ecu, vacuum pump but is there anything else I need? also wheres the best place to get them all from? is there any differences in the stalks for the older or newer ones? are any of the parts specific to the engine type, example could I fit any of the parts off a a diesel or automatic?

Has anybody done a definitive shopping list of parts needed for both newer and older cars?

you will need the switch for accelerator and brake too...
I took a set from an auto and fitted to a manual. no issues.

The spare set I have in storage from a manual s70 I can check for you to give you a run down of all parts needed if someone else hasn't done that by end of this week.

Hello
Do you still have these for grabs?

I've managed to get hold of the stalk, clutch and brake switches and value pump.
Hopefully all that's left now is your bits and maybe some pipes

Crikey its good to see this thread still rumbling on! Lack of CC is the biggest miss of owning my adored 99 T5 auto. I'm too obstinate to pay Volvo what IMHO is a disprportionate sum for a now classic vehicle; they really should be adjusting the price to suit the owner base.

So, if I'm reading your post right byootox, the programme for the CC is in the cluster NOT the ECU? So I should be trying clusters off Ebay not ECUs? Only asking as one from a 99 C70 T5 is on now.
