Indeed.
It can also have a bearing on oci's, plus is best not used in high output/high revving/both engines.
As previously mentioned, if you know what you are doing, drive gently, use short oci's etc it can be fine, the problem is most people dont know, use long oci's or miss them, dont use the engine appropriately, rev from cold and so-on...

Agreed - the widespread use of fully synth oils paved the way for oil change intervals to be extended from circa 6 to 12k miles to 18k +

My last xc90 my14 was recommended to use 0w/30 . On another train of thought though, how many people after a longish run at motorway speeds simply pull into the services and switch off. Always let the engine idle for a minute or two, helps to cool the turbo bearings down a bit without starving them of oil. Helped keep my Scania 560 bhp rolling along up to 620.000 miles before I gave up the job, still see the old girl knocking about on the motorway 10 years on. Only a thought.

Yes!
People dont understand or in the first instance know about this. It often mentions it very briefly in the handbook that most people ignore.
In this day and age, with so many turbos, it ought to be part of driving lessons/test to idle a mo before switching off, like applying handbrake and puttng in gear once turned off.
