My old 850's pipe died at around 18yrs of use. I replaced that with a Jetex from PFV. Went for the stainless option.
The beauty of those is the extra join (as Luxo had to 'add' to his repair job);
This allows you to fit it just on ramps, where (I understand) a lift is needed to fit an OE to get the 'angle' to get it over the rear axle.
That said the Jetex made a completely different noise to the OE unit.
Gone was that 5-pot burble at rest, and it was boomy in the cabin on a 3rd gear overtake (2.5GLT that was).
That said, I fitted it in around 2013. I was quoted over 600 quid for a Volvo cat-back unit with forum discount.
Jetex was 380 delivered (its still going tho' with a new owner), so that price, coupled with the ease of fitting it was a no brainer

The exhaust I have on my '99 V70 was fitted in September 2015 (centre and rear sections) at a cost of £154+ VAT= £185

I have no idea what make it was, but it was fairly quiet, but not as quiet as the OEM that had finally given up the ghost. However after two months I noticed a blowing sound and it turned out to be the clamp between the front section and middle sections, which they replaced FOC. I've since had them fit a second clamp, and bodge it with some sealer since, but when it's only noticeable under hard acceleration, and the sound level in the cabin on motorways in 5th is quite low.

Hi, I have just read another thread on here concerning two silencers being fitted to 1999 V70 and upwards. Apparently volvo realised that the single silencer near to the back axle was noisey.
The Klarius silencer I fitted is ok but loud so I am thinking of shortening the tail pipe and fitting a back silencer. I would be very interested to know whether anyone else has tried this.

Hi mate, I’ve fitted a small rear silencer (between the tailpipe and axle) but for different reasons to most on here. Either way, got mine off eBay, think it’s 12” long by 8” diameter. There’s a company on eBay that does pretty much any silencer you can imagine as well as pipe, clamps, mounts, etc etc. They do stainless or mild steel, clamp on or weld on. I went with weld on as I was pretty much making my own exhaust from the down pipe back. Great quality, great price, search for everyexhaustpart in the shops section in eBay. 👍🏻

Hi Ninjabob81, many thanks for that.Once you had fitted the tail silencer was the exhaust quieter. Was it a fairly east job to fit a bracket to hold the silencer
or did you just use the exsisting bracket. thanks jack.

Following on from my post #22. I'm now awaiting delivery of an exhaust for my ph1 V70.
I steered away from the Stainless Steel Jetex as it has only the one silencer and as I said it was 'boomy'.
I have stayed with Jetex tho' for that ease of fitting. I've gone for their 'cheaper' chromium-steel one. This does have a second silencer to the rear.
We shall see if it is quieter......

Hi Paul, would appreciate hearing from you once the two silencers are fitted. The one silencer booming is bloody annoying. thanks jack

Hi Jack, to be honest mine was decatted and then had the huge rear silencer removed for performance reasons but as a true straight through exhaust it was bloody painful!!! So I fitted the small rear silencer and yes, it didn’t half make a difference. Probably not much use to you I know other than the fact it made a noticeable difference. I made my own hangers as I had access to a workshop, ramps, mig welder etc. I’ll try find a picture for reference.
