There was a topic on swedespeed on this- early XC90s had door seals replaced over this..

For what it's worth, I've had my MY18 XC60 in below -15C on several occasions last and this winter- even washed the car- but no issues whatsoever..

Wouldnt a quick hack for door close mechanism causing bounce back be to carry a can of wd40 in the car and give the lock a quick spray if it happens?

Unacceptable I know... but still...

I just wouldn't use WD40- there's lots of plastic bits in the door mechanism.. graphite spray would be better.. or white grease..

It happens because of the design of the door. If you look, the rubberseal is directly expose to water thrown by the rear wheel, hence the rear door looks so dirty inside during rainy days, all sorts of debris accumulate on the inside of the door just before the seal.

It's the top of the doors that freeze on the XC90, there is a hard plastic strip on the top of the door that freezes to the top of the door frame. I spray silicon lube on the frame and plastic strip to prevent it.
Lots of XC60 owners complain about the bottom door mud trap.

Oh??? I thought it’s only me!! My S90 rear passenger door can’t close if I open it on a frozenday! I thought Sweden is colder than UK by miles... do our Swedish Volvo owners have the same problems?

I’m sending my car in for sevice in 2 weeks time and not sure how to proof what I’ve experienced.

Do you mean the velvety (wind noise?) strip?

Oh yes. Great product. It’s not just volvos. Our range rovers suffered from this as did my BMW. Treat the seals once or twice a year and the problem has gone.
