Skandix's M90 Transmission fluid
Has anyone used the transmission fluid from Skandix from the link down bellow on an M90?
Skandix says it's comparable to the OEM 1161745 oil that has been discontinued which would be the recommended oil for a late 90's M90 tranny. But the GL3+ part is confusing me. They also have the Top Tec 5200 (same brand) and say it's compatible with my car. I don't want to use the 31280771 oil volvo is now recommending for these cars has I was told it might not be backwards compatible and it's the oil I have right now on the car which is giving me problems. There is also the Red Line brand. But I can't get MTL for a reasonable price shipped to spain and I don't know if any of the other Red Line oils are suitable. Any experience with the liqui moly stuff? https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-part...5w-80/1058457/ |

Hi,
Skandix have always been very good in my experience. I changed the gear oil in my m90 this year and used Motul Motylgear 75w-80 EP Technosynthese Car Transmission Fluid from Opie Oils. I am not a fluids expert but I trust Opies recommendation. The gear changes became very smooth afterwards. David |

If you want Liqui Moly GL3+ you can buy it in the UK I suspect cheaper than Skandix prices inc shipping. From my experience Liqui Moly also provide a quick and excellent response to technical email questions.

However they are the exception that proves the rule so to speak. He still has the problem of carriage to Portugal though Bob, i don't know if it's cheaper/quicker from the UK to there than it is from Spain but would guess not. One of the joys of living in a hot country!

I can actually get it from amazon.es for 18€/L but next day delivery for free.
I just mentioned Skandix because that's where I found it first. Was wondering if anyone else had used it. I found an old thread of someone who bought it but returned it and used Volvo oil instead. So, yeah, haven't seen anyone online claiming to have used it. Also they have the Top TEC one that doesn't mention GL in the bottle. |
