Last week I tried to replace my front disks and pads. I had bought Brembo disks and Pagid pads.

I couldn't remove the caliper bolts, so gave up, and today got a garage to do it. The sliders were seized on both calipers, like everything else!

Got the Offside front caliper off and rubber is all perished, so advised need a new one pretty soon.

Where can I buy one? Anyone have a used one with good rubber?

Many thanks. James.
I just the other week did my front calipers. £37 each plus the surcharge which you get back on return of the old units. Wouldnt even mess around reconditioning a caliper at that price. I changed them because of uneven brake application as one piston has seized. I also did genuine discs, pads and bolts for the caliper and carrier. I cant stand those aftermarket brakes especially anything from eurocarparts

My pads had worn more on the edge. Sliders were seized.

Going to fit a new caliper and have new quide kit. I'll have a go and see how I get on fitting it, as all bots unseized now. If goes well will replace the other caliper.

What don't you like about Eurocar parts?

Anyone know the brake pipe spanner size I would need?

James.

I don't know why Tom doesn't like ECP but i have reduced my use of them as the quality varies more than i'm comfortable with - that's the polite version anyway!

Update.

Finally today at 12pm started to replace my brake caliper having gone to Euro Car Parts to get some thread locking paste, brake fluid and some copper grease.

Got the car raised on drivers front wheel and removed wheel. Removed the 2 12mm caliper bolts. Clamped the brake hose and gently undid the old hose and unwound caliper from brake hose.

Fitted new quide pins as a kit after greasing them with supplied. Removed new pads and kept them in order, to go back how they were. Fitted new brake pad fitting kit, metal parts. Re-fitted the pads after putting a bit of copper slip on edges near ends and back of pads.

Wound the brake hose back into the new caliper and fitted it with the new bolts and thread lock.

Bled the new caliper until bubbles had gone and fluid changed to a lighter colour.

Put the wheel back on and re tightened when lowered.

Tried to remove passenger front wheel to bleed NS front caliper but wheel nuts so tight couldn't remove 2 of the wheel nuts, need to find a bit of scaffolding pole!

May just get garage to remove wheel, fit new brake fitting kit, and quide pins and fully bleed all calipers shortly.

Went on a little drive and pedal feels fine and stops same as before.

Well done that man!

Can i make a suggestion about the wheel nuts on the passenger wheel? If you remember/know who last had that wheel off, go there and get them to undo the nuts for you then do them up as you would and drive home, do the brakes yourself. If you put it into a garage, there's a chance that if they were the ones that overtightened the nuts in the first place, they'll overtighten them again.

Might pay to check you can undo the rear nuts too before you take it back to whoever overtightened them.

I was having visions of trying to undo the brake hose join where it joins the copper/alloy rigid pipe. I haven't got the right spanners and was thinking about the job and thought, take the caliper off first, loosen the brake hose to caliper join and gently unwind the caliper from the pipe. In my case it worked. The flexi brake hose are good. I have ordered a set of six brake pipe spanners.

It's a nightmare when rusty fittings/bolts wont undo! Fear of breaking head off etc.

Sounds a good plan! I'll inform them. Winter tyres have been on since last September, so a while, fronts removed recently for work and refitted. Certainly seem to overtighten!
