Default Clutch Master Cylinder

Hi all,

I'm trying to remove the leaking clutch master cylinder from my '86 740. It's the type that has its own fluid reservoir on top, not the type with a hose going to the brake fluid reservoir.

I've taken out the clevis pin from the clutch pedal, taken off the metal pipe, and removed the lower bolt from the bulkhead. I just need to remove the top bolt but the fluid reservoir is in the way on one side, and the clutch pedal is in the way on the other side.

Has anyone done this? Does the clutch pedal need to come out? Maybe remove the reservoir somehow?

Default Solved

I finished this job a while ago and for future reference this is how it can be done without removing the steering column and pedals.

Have somebody hold a spanner on the nut in the drivers footwell, to stop the nut spinning. Round the other side, use an extra long ratchet spanner to get behind the engine. I bought a cheap one on amazon for this purpose.
