Historically EG antifreeze has always been green or blue Ellie so i wouldn't worry on the colour in this case.

I wouldn't trust the hybridised stuff either, refilling with OAT after having EG in a car without a seriously intensive flush can cause the silicates left in a deep dark corner to precipitate out (interaction with the acid) into silicone gel, not what you want in your cooling system!

With that in mind, if the two types are hybridised, arguably speaking it would only take the addition (even accidental) of some catalyst to cause a similar reaction but just like Calcium batteries, they don't tell us these things and insist it's all backwards compatible like the new gearbox oil Volvo supply for the M90 that turns out to give problems.

They are now doing a new type Euro one in blue so you have to be very very careful!

I see that Halfrauds will give me a tenner back for my old battery, that will enable me to buy a £9 antifreeze concentration tester, broke mine some time ago!

I've been on Comma's website and it states it is ethylene glycol based with silicate inhibitors, it is all I have been putting in redblocks for about a year now and so far no issues at all.

I used to use castrol radicool but it is quite expensive when the comma G48 does the job just fine.

I'd just use the G48 or the super cold master if I were you, no point spending big money on it as it should be changed roughly every 2-3 years anyway.

The one you're adding might be fine, but how do you know the existing coolant won't then misbehave? If you've ever seen the jelly like mess that different coolants can make when one reacts you'll flush thoroughly every single time and make a mental note of what youre putting in there in case it needs a top up in the future.

Comma changed their recommendations a few years back now for these engines away from G48. It took Halfruds a couple of years or more to catch up. Quite frankly the costituents of the then recommeded didn't look great but hey, ho.

I have always used Comma G48 and it is just fine in my redblock. Your engine won't get stuffed by choking on it's coolant!!

As I said, the one I have been using which I have the empty container of and the receipt for, says they guarantee it will mix with all other coolants so I am happy with their guarantee.
