Hello and a quick tyre question
I started with a 340, then two 360s, went to a Honda Prelude, a Seat Leon and an S2000. I'm very happy to back with a lovely T4 Volvo SE Lux Nav.
I have a quick question about tyres. The tyres on the car at the moment are 225/45/R17/91W, but the ones recommended for my car via the My Volvo website are 205/50 R17. It looks to me that someone has put on R spec tyre sizes. Should I stick with the 225/45 or go back to OEM? Any opinions/advice very much appreciated. Oh and a quick edit to say, the T4 has the lowered sports suspension, does that mean I'd be better off with the 'sportier' tyre profile? All the best Last edited by thebronze; Aug 18th, 2014 at 17:52. Reason: additional info |

The borchure says that your car should have "17" Mannan Alloy Wheels with 205/50 Tyres". however, the manual lists both sizes for your car.
The R-Design D2 which has the lowered sports chasis (from the manual "Lowered Sports Chassis (standard D2 Manual R-Design and R-Design Lux)" has 225/45/17 tyres, but the other R-Design have 225/50/17 tyres. From the manual, the non-D2 R Designs have "Dynamic Chassis (D3, D4, T3, T4 and T5)". As such, if you have specified the lowered sports chasis, the tyres may be changed at factory to ensure that clearance to arches is maintained - although I can't find anything in the manual to specifically state that. |

225/45/R17/91W is what's fitted to our T4 R-Design as standard. It doesn't have the lowered chassis.
Perhaps those wheels go hand in hand with the T4 whether on R-Design or SE Lux? |

Thanks to both of you. I think I'll go with the 225/45 tyres then. I appreciate your responses.
