Independent specialist in the Preston Area?
Anyone know of a a reputable independent volvo specialist in the Preston or Chorley area? We have a V50 that's now out of warranty and I don't particularly want to line the pocket of my local dealer to the tune of around £400 for the 36,000mile service.
The car is only the 1.8 petrol, which I thought had a lot in common mechanically with a 1.8 focus - so I think their quote is outrageous for what must be just a oil and filters type standard service. Any advice would be much appreciated! Neil |

Try corner garage: http://www.cornergaragevolvo.com/
or Jump Leads in Lyhtam: http://www.jumpleadsvolvo.co.uk/sales/ I'd probably go to Corner with yours; I use both for mine, and flit between them and don't have any problems Corner will do the service for £182, and don't seem to mind too much if you supply your own parts (I dropped my car in with 2 new headlights to be fitted in the boot!) The only reason I'd tend towards Corner with the V50 is that they appear to do more of the new stuff; Jump Leads could do it as well I expect (they have all the diagnostic stuff) but I've not really seen anything newer than an early P2 V70 there.
Hope that helps; I've found you can get into them with about 2 days notice which is good, or if it's a simple fix I've managed to get in the day that it's appeared.

volvo service
hi there, my preference is for jump leads, i have been there this week and had a new top mounting bush fitted, a vacuum elbow pipe on inlet manifold and finally a rear subframe bush done also, i have used them before and find them easy to get on with and good prices too, whereas at volvo corner i bought an 850 of them a few years ago and because it cost me less than £1500 i only got three months warranty, i kept getting a problem whereas it kept going into limp mode ( automatic) and everytime i took it back, whilst it was still in warranty they just reset the codes and got it working again, i was told that it should really have a replacement part but it cost £95 and would take most of a day to replace it, but they had no intention of changing it i went back 4 times and had the codes set everytime, so you see i am biased i wont give them my business anymore. (only my opinion) cheers -peewee.

Thanks for that PJay; I need to sort out my heater matrix in my car. Corner quoted about the £100 for that, with a bit more for labour. Not spoken to Jump Leads yet about it, too busy trying to buy a new kayak at the moment to sort my car out!!!
As I say at the moment I flick between them both, it would be easier if I could get everything done at JumpLeads as it's easier to get to work from (Stanley Park is a long way to ride from Corner Garage!!!)
