Default Electromagnetic Parking Sensors??

hi

Anyone had any experience of Electromagnetic Parking Sensors? It sits behind the bumper so there are no holes to be drilled.

I spoke to an auto elctrician who didn't think they are any good.

Any advice appreciated!

Cheers

Yes I tried a Taurus system on my Skoda Fabia. Worked fine with the tailgate open but hopeless wth it shut. Also, it detected buried or road-surface metal as well as other cars - every time you reversed over a manhole cover the alarm triggered.
So all in all, a nice idea which nearly works. Go ultrasonic.

As I said in another thread, for me these kind of sensors work very well.
It is true that there may be some "false alarms" due to the antenna detecting in 3D rather than in 1D, but all in all the 3 tone signal allows me to park safely and easily when I need.
On the other hand, If you paint the ultrasonic sensors in the color of the bumper, this is also a good solution and you can find cheap ones on ebay. These are mostly made in china but work very well.
In my opinion the original volvo ones are very expensive and remain visible-ugly, even if painted in the color of the bumper.

The electromagnetic ones will also fail to spot that low brick wall you can't see in your mirrors!

Default where can I find the colour code for my car??

Sorry Kostas, I've changed my mind, I'm going to go for the standard parking sensors. I've got a guy coming out to fit them next week but he wants to know the colour code for my car, he said it would be on the Vin plate, but it's not, any ideas??

Cheers

It's on a sticker which is normally on the door frame of the right rear door. About the third box down on the left but your manual will confirm which of the figures on the sticker is which.

My m8 fitted these behind the rear number plate and has been very happy with them.

He had them on an Alfa 147 originally and transferred them to an Astra 3 months ago - currently going for £79.

Very simple to install - only one small 14mm hole required to be drilled [hidden by the number plate].

An option for those not who are not too great at DIY or worry about drilling into their lovely bumper!!

May not be what you're after though.
